nutrition for the human body. National Nutrition Week (NNW) is an annual
nutrition event structured by the Food and Nutrition Board by the Government of
India and the Ministry of Child Development. There are huge crowds of people in
India today who are malnourished and need a proper diet to grow their healthy
body. The government has conducted many seminars and camps to impart proper
education to every child and citizen of India.
What is the history of National Nutrition Week
National Nutrition Week was launched in March 1973
by members of the American Dietetic Association (now the Academy of Nutrition
and Dietetics) to raise awareness among people about the importance and
necessity of nutrition education. In those days National Nutrition Week was not
popularly accepted by the people and no such movement was given importance.
Over the years, however, we have seen changes and, according to one study,
conclude that in the 1970s, the public reacted strongly to it, resulting in its
emergence among countries around the world. Finally, in 1982, the central
government of India decided to establish the movement and consider it a
week-long celebration of National Nutrition Week.
What is the importance of National Nutrition Week
In a country like India, people are less concerned
about malnutrition problems and diets affecting their early lives and National
Nutrition Week is organized for the whole week to encourage such citizens.
People living below the poverty line are getting basic food grains to meet their
stomachs, various NGOs were opened in partnership to strengthen the movement.
The purpose of National Nutrition Week is to promote food intake for growth,
metabolism, and repair. Our body needs two types of nutrients namely
macronutrients and micronutrients. Preaching is alarming and provides us with
accurate knowledge
Diet. Our diet plans have never been a concern for
us, but the initiative to establish this campaign has encouraged people to take
action against their unhealthy diets and maintain the status of their diet
charts towards a balanced lifestyle.

How to celebrate National Nutrition Week
Most of us do not take into account the effects of
unhealthy and nutritious foods on our health and it is quite clear with the
daily schedule lifestyle where taking a break from work is essential. So
excluding these issues we can all get together on this day and according to our
possibilities we can donate a few food grains or crops for the people we need
in the neighborhood. Only people associated with NGOs can take this activity to
a certain level. We can be biased ourselves and replace our unhealthy food
stocks with VG, fruit and nutritious foods that are readily available in any
market. To celebrate this day in a unique way, all we can do is to encourage
people to take a healthy lifestyle with our family and friends, to post
pictures with hashtags.
Information about National Nutrition Week
1. Each year, the Food and Nutrition Board prepares
a theme for National Nutrition Week through 43 Community Food and Nutrition
Extension Units located in four regions of the country.
2. The percentage of children with anemia (6-59
months) decreased from 69.4% to 58.5.6%.
3. On March 7, 2011, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
launched a nutrition campaign from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan to rid India of
malnutrition by 2022.
